The Ricker family has been a part of the fishing trade for generations. Almost 100 years later, the original boat house still stands and is the backdrop of a picturesque, New England working dock and lobster pound.
In 1969 George "Ben" Ricker needed an outlet to unload a surplus of lobster. He began selling lobster rolls fresh from his boat. To his surprise, his small interim business was the beginning of a much anticipated summer tradition for both island natives and tourists alike.
Two years ago, the business changed hands from one local family to another. Ricker Lobster Co. has been sold to the Taccetta family. Those who have come to know and love Ricker Lobster Co. can be assured, it will carry on the same as it always has.
Every spring, the public eagerly awaits the opening of the lobster pound. A sign that summer is just around the corner. Come back in time and visit a true New England gem. While your at it, order a lobster roll...they're the best around!
